If you ever wondered why anyone in their right mind would listen to Alien Sex Fiend, then after listening to this lot you'll really come to question the humanity of early-80s A&R executives. Blood & Roses' most interesting anecdote is that their guitarist once had his dole queried because а clerk down his local DHSS office recognised him from а pic in the NME. In Gregory's Girl, а classic UK film of the same period, the character of Andy tells Gregory how much he likes to stand on а motorway bridge and watch the lorries thunder past underneath. This album would make the perfect accompanying soundtrack to an afternoon of such bleakly depressing entertainment. Why this self-harming collection was exhumed is anyone's guess. Best left undead.
