Who get framed

Exhibition of vintage Who photos this month.

Fans of The Who will want to check
out a fascinating new exhibition called 1966 And All That, with a selection of vintage photographs taken by Colin Jones, who befriended guitarist Pete Townshend just as the band were about to break into the big time. His privileged access included travelling with Townshend, singer Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon, capturing them on stage and off, including shopping for stage gear in the King's Road. It will be the first time that many of Jones's photos have been seen in public.
The exhibition is on until November 30 at Hoopers Gallery, 15 Clerkenwell Close, London EC 1R OAA. For details go to www.hoopersgallery.co.uk or call 020 7490 3907.
Still in the world of rock music-related art, and commemorating the same era, Genesis Publications are issuing a book called California Dreaming: Memories And Visions Of LA 1966-1975, which brings
together the best work of Henry Diltz, a famous Los Angeles-based photographer who worked with the cream of US singersongwriters for the past four decades. Diltz's images are accompanied by the words of almost 50 of the stars that he captured on film from 1966, including Crosby, Stephen Stills, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, JD Souther, and Gerry Beckley of the group America.
